Warning: the $18 plastic bin I bought at a Columbus garage sale saved my whole comic collection
Back in 2019 I was storing about 300 comic books in a couple of old cardboard boxes in my basement. We got a heavy rain that spring, and water came in under the back door. The cardboard soaked through and the bottom layer of books got wrecked, probably $400 worth gone in one night. About a month later I hit a garage sale over on Indianola Ave and a lady was selling a stack of those hard plastic storage bins for $18 each. I grabbed two, mostly because they were cheap, and moved what was left of my collection in. Last summer the basement flooded again, worse than before, and those comics came out dry as a bone. I did the math and those two bins cost me $36 total while the cardboard disaster cost me hundreds. Now I keep a running list of which books are in which bin so I can find them without digging. What are you all using to store yours, because I still have two short boxes sitting on the floor that make me nervous?
