Appreciation post: I spent $60 on a random prompt generator app and it actually unblocked my novel

I was stuck on a chapter for weeks, but the app gave me a prompt about a character finding a key that opens memories, which totally fixed my plot. Has anyone else had a tool or book that unexpectedly saved a project?

Was that a one time charge or a subscription? I've seen some apps that look cheap but then bill you every month.

Try a simple object generator website for free next time. I use one that just spits out random nouns, and forcing a weird item into a scene can totally shift the vibe. Sometimes paying is just paying for the commitment to actually use the thing.

Funny how paying for something can make you take it seriously. It's like buying a gym membership you actually use because you feel the cash leaving your hand. That mental shift from free to paid can force you to engage with a tool in a way you wouldn't otherwise. The app itself might not be magic, but the act of buying it can break your own mental block.
