Appreciation post: A prompt about a haunted coffee maker really helped me write
Honestly, I was totally out of ideas for my fiction pieces last week. Tbh, I stumbled on a writing prompt about a coffee maker with memories of every brew. Ngl, I wrote a scene from its perspective, and it felt surprisingly emotional. It showed me how normal things can hide big tales. Now I hunt for prompts that make normal items come alive. What sort of prompts make you guys look at everyday stuff differently?

Ever think about objects that seem totally boring on purpose. Like a motel room key from a place that never changes. Or one of those old truck stop stools bolted to the floor. What's it hiding by being so plain. Makes you wonder what it doesn't want to remember.

Normal things can hide big tales" - ever tried writing from the view of something hiding its own story?

Yeah but sometimes a thing is just a thing, you know? Like josepha32, I get the idea, but that old stool is just tired from holding people up all day. Its story is the coffee spills and the worn vinyl, not some secret. Why does everything need a hidden tale?
