Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to dial in a boom truck on a tight pour
Had a small commercial pour in Gary, Indiana three weeks back and figured the setup would eat maybe 40 minutes. Turned into a 4 hour mess because the outrigger pad kept sinking in soft ground near a storm drain. I tried blocking it with plywood scraps, then 2x6s, then finally had to call for a guy to bring outrigger mats. Lost half a day on a job I bid at a flat rate, so that was basically $600 gone out of my pocket. I get why nobody brings it up in the safety meetings, but every operator I know has a version of this story. What's your go to move when the ground under your pads is mush and you don't have mats on the truck yet?
