Please stop putting your laptop on a fluffy blanket, I ruined mine in 3 months

I see so many cozy desk pics with the laptop resting on a thick fleece or those chunky knit throws and I cringe every time. I did the same thing last fall on my little desk in Portland, thought it looked so warm and inviting. Turns out those blankets block the air vents completely, my machine started throttling hard by week two and by month three the battery swelled up like a pillow. Cost me $180 to replace it and the tech guy literally laughed when he saw the lint clogging the fan. Your setup can still be soft and inviting, just keep the fabric away from the actual computer and use a hard board or a proper stand. Has anyone else found a cute way to keep the cozy look without frying their gear? I need ideas that don't look like a prison desk.
