I finally saw my desk from the doorway and gasped

I walked in with coffee last Tuesday and caught my setup at a weird angle, the lamp glare and stacked notebooks looked like a hoarder's den from there... how did I miss that mess for six months? Anyone else only notice their clutter from the door, not the chair?

The doorway thing is just the tip of it. What REALLY gets me is how your brain filters out the mess when you're sitting IN it, like your eyes just refuse to see the same pile of papers from two feet away. That lamp glare probably made everything look ten times worse too, lighting up every crumb and crumpled sticky note like a crime scene. I started taking a photo of my desk from the doorway every Friday, and let me tell you, the camera does NOT lie. It's the only way I actually see what the room looks like to anyone else who walks in.
