Blew 3 hours on a toner that should've taken 20 minutes

Client came in with orange brassy roots and I grabbed a violet toner without checking her previous color history, ended up with green patches at the crown and had to strip and redo everything before her 2pm appointment. Has anyone else had a toner disaster spiral like this or am I just the only one who forgets to look at the client's own notes first?
