The inspector's note about my submittal logs flipped my whole system

Last Tuesday in Nashville, a city inspector handed back my submittal package with a sticky note that said 'your logs prove nothing, show me the actual revision dates.' I had been organizing everything by document number for two years, but he needed a timeline of when each change landed. Has anyone else had to rebuild their tracking around approval dates instead of file names?
