Just realized I've been chaining my excavator bucket all wrong
Haul an excavator with the bucket chained to the deck for 2 years now. Last month a customer in Odessa watched me strap up and asked why I didn't use the lift points near the cab. I figured chains on the bucket were fine since it never moved much. Turns out the bucket chain forces the stick sideways on sharp turns, and I wasted a bearing that cost $1,400 to swap. Has anyone else had a machine shift on tight highway curves from chaining the bucket instead of the boom?
