That $130 power trowel blade kit finally clicked for me

I usually cheap out on blades, but last month I grabbed a nicer set for my 36 inch trowel after fighting with a worn one on a big garage pour near Tulsa. The finish came out way smoother, no chatter marks, and I cut my bull floating time by almost half. Maybe it was just the fresh edge, but I'm curious if anyone else notices a big difference with premium blades or if I got lucky. What's the most you've spent on blades for a single job?

Remember the fresh edge is doing a lot of that work. Even a cheap blade will cut smoother when it's brand new, but it won't hold that edge for long. The real difference shows up after a couple thousand feet, when the premium set still leaves a clean face and the budget one starts dragging. I've dropped about $200 on blades for a big warehouse slab before, and the time saved on floating paid for it pretty quick.
