Let a slab cure 3 extra days in Denver and the edge chipping basically disappeared, anyone else notice this
I used to pull forms the morning after a pour like clockwork. Last month I had a 12x20 pad up in Denver and the weather went cold on me, so I left the forms on for 3 days instead of 1. When I stripped them the edges came off so clean I barely touched them with the trowel. Normally I'm chasing chips with a rub brick for an hour. Same mix, same guys, only thing different was the wait. Was it the cold slowing things down or just the extra time? Curious if anyone else has played with leaving forms longer on purpose.

Three days on a 12x20 pad in Denver and you just stumbled onto the oldest trick in the book by accident. Cold slows the set but the extra time is what lets the mix really harden up before you yank the forms off. Pulling the morning after is how you get those chipped edges in the first place, you were basically rushing the concrete before it was ready. So congrats, the weather did your scheduling for you and now you know to just leave them on longer.
