Figured the laser level was a gimmick until a 60 foot pour in Reno

I laughed at my buddy when he showed up to a driveway job in Reno with a $400 laser level, and I kept eyeballing my screed like always. Then we hit a 60 foot pour with a 2 inch fall and my string line kept catching wind, so I finally gave his gizmo a shot. It took 10 minutes to set up and the whole slab drained perfect, not one puddle after the first rain. Now I'm eating crow and thinking about buying one, so what setup do you all run for grade on long pours?
