Picked a $40 USB-C adapter over a $200 dock, zero regrets so far

Had to set up a temp workstation for a client last Tuesday in Austin and the choice was between a cheap USB-C hub and a full docking station. I went with the $40 Anker adapter because it was same-day pickup and the dock needed overnight shipping. Client just needed dual monitors, ethernet, and a couple USB ports for their laptop, nothing fancy. The adapter handled all of it without a hiccup, even with a 4K display and a video call running. My only gripe is the cable is short so it dangles a bit, but zip ties fixed that. Anyone else found cheap hubs that surprise you, or do you always spring for the dock?
