Just read that 60% of data loss for small businesses is from hardware failure, not malware.

I was looking at a report from a data recovery company in Chicago, and that number really jumped out at me. I always thought ransomware and viruses were the big threats, but it seems like old drives and power issues cause more trouble. On one hand, it makes sense because hardware just wears out over time. On the other, it feels like we spend way more time talking about security software than backup systems. Has anyone else shifted their advice to clients based on stats like this?

My buddy's shop just had three old servers die in the same week, so that stat feels real.

That stat totally matches what we see with our clients' old computers failing.

That's a wild stat. Makes you wonder if the backup advice itself is outdated. Are we still just telling people to get an external drive, or is the real fix pushing for cloud backups that don't rely on local hardware at all? What's your go-to setup now for a small office with, say, five old workstations?
