Cracked a new drysuit zipper with a $12 graphite stick trick
Tested out that little graphite lube stick on my zipper before a 40m dive off Port Angeles last month. Figured it was snake oil, but the zipper slides way smoother and it's not attracting sand like the spray stuff did. Has anyone else switched from silicone spray to graphite for their suits? I'm curious if it holds up on longer jobs.
Graphite is a dry lube so it won't grab grit, but silicone spray is actually a wet lube and that's why it cakes up with sand at Port Angeles. Just know graphite can stain light colored seals and fabric over time.
