Warning: I just switched from a cheap import vise to a Kurt Anglock and the difference is night and day.

I ran that import vise for about three years, and it was a constant fight to hold tight tolerances on aluminum parts. The jaw lift was awful, maybe 0.003" on a good day. Last month, I finally spent the money on a Kurt 675. The repeatability is rock solid, and I'm holding tenths without even thinking about it. The time I used to waste re-indicating parts is now gone. Has anyone else made a tool upgrade that felt like it cut their setup time in half?

Seriously? My import vise holds just fine if you know how to use it.

Know exactly what you mean about that jaw lift fight. Swapped out some old clamps for a decent set last year and it was like a different job. That feeling when a tool just works is the best.

What brand did you end up going with? I found the same thing when I finally got some proper locking pliers. Total game changer.
