Stopped by a machine shop open house in Erie and saw a 1987 Haas still holding tenths
The owner said it ran two shifts a day for 30 years and they just finally swapped the ballscrews, made me feel dumb for babying my 2019 mill like it's glass, anybody else got an old machine out there that just won't quit?
Ever seen a guy wipe down his machine with a diaper and still cut parts .003 off? That's me, so thanks for the wake up call. In my experience babying a mill just means you're the one crying when it finally drifts, your mileage may vary though. Gonna go apologize to my 2019 for treating it like fine china.
