My probe snapped off inside a $4,800 fixture block on Friday and I spent six hours fishing it out
I was jogging the Z axis down to set a tool offset at 2pm and the probe tip caught the edge of the block, sheared clean off, and left the ball stuck in a coolant hole, so I ended up pulling the block off the table and poking at it with a bent paper clip until the shift lead came over and asked why the spindle was sitting idle for half the afternoon.
