Crashed a $200 endmill because I didn't check the holder

Was running a 3/8 rougher on a stainless job last Thursday, sounded fine but then a huge bang. The collet nut was barely hand tight from the last setup. Anyone else double check their toolholders before every run or am I just paranoid now?

Dont check toolholders before every run" is like not locking your car in a bad neighborhood - it works until it doesnt. Its one of those little things that feels like overkill until you lose time and money over something completely avoidable. Same reason I check my gas cap three times before driving off, its just cheaper than the alternative.

Three times on the gas cap? That's a whole ritual, not a safety check. I barely give mine a second glance and just hope for the best. You're way more disciplined than I could ever be, that's for sure.
