Boss said stop using gauge blocks on the vise, and I think he's wrong
My 6 inch Kurt vise jaws went out of parallel by 0.003 inches after two months of roughing 4140, so I started checking with gauge blocks before each setup and he told me I was wasting cycle time. I get that production wants parts out the door, but scrapping a $400 block of steel hurts more than 20 extra seconds of setup. Anyone else get pushback for checking their work, or is it just my shop?
