Overheard a guy at the hardware store say he'd never buy an electric truck because 'the grid can't handle it'.

That's a defeatist excuse, not a real reason. How do we get past this kind of lazy thinking that blocks every single new idea?

Yeah, that grid argument is just a talking point people use when they don't want to change. I had a coworker say the same thing last year. I just asked him if he thought the power company was stupid, and pointed out they plan for this stuff and upgrade as needed. It's like what @ellis.leo said, the upgrades often happen before you even get the truck. The grid isn't some static thing, it gets fixed and improved all the time. People just don't like admitting they're wrong about new tech.

My buddy in Phoenix got a Ford Lightning last year. His local substation got an upgrade before he even plugged it in, and now his whole block has better service. People just repeat stuff they heard somewhere without checking the facts.

Can we admit we all just repeat stuff sometimes? I once told my neighbor his EV would crash the grid, and now I'm eating my words (and his free charging). Guess I should check the facts before I open my mouth.
