Update: my neighbor's yard went from a mud pit to full grass in 5 weeks, now half the block is fighting about it
Six weeks ago the house two doors down on West 130th was just dirt and weeds, straight mud whenever it rained, and the guy who moved in this spring put down sod and a sprinkler timer and by week five that yard was thick green grass. Now here is the part that got people going. He runs his sprinklers at 5am for almost 45 minutes, and my next door neighbor swears her water bill jumped 30 bucks this month and blames him, even though the city does not bill that way. Some folks on the block say who cares, it is his yard and his money, and honestly the whole street looks better without that mud running into the storm drains. Other folks say he is wasting water we all pay for and he should have just seeded it and waited like everyone else. I am stuck in the middle because I reseeded my own front lawn two years ago for about 80 dollars and it took a full season, but it did come in. So what is the call here, is sod and daily sprinklers just how it goes now, or is he showing off? Curious what people around here think, especially anyone who has dealt with a neighbor like this.
