The $1.79 outlet gasket trick that finally fixed my drafty kitchen wall
My kitchen outlets on the north wall of my 1952 house in Cleveland were leaking cold air so bad the covers felt like ice by January. I tried caulk around the boxes first and it cracked apart in one season. What actually worked was pulling the covers and putting foam outlet gaskets behind them, ten outlets for under $20 at the hardware store on Lorain. The wall by the toaster is noticeably warmer now and my furnace runs less. Has anyone dealt with the switches on exterior walls too, or is that just a wasted gasket?
