That wet basement smell after the March thaw took 4 shop vacs to fix
Last month the sump pump in my Old Brooklyn basement died during a two day downpour, and I found 3 inches of water soaking the carpet by the time I got home from work. I rented a wet vac from Home Depot on Lorain, ran it for 6 hours straight, and pulled out what felt like 80 gallons before tossing the carpet and padding. Has anyone here dealt with a failed sump backup system, or do you just rely on the main pump and hope?
