Just paid $220 to fix a pipe leak I could've caught myself
The water stain on my basement ceiling kept getting bigger for like a month and I kept putting it off, finally called a plumber in Cleveland Heights and he found a pinhole in the copper line behind the drywall. Has anyone else had luck with those leak detection sensors, or are they just another gadget that'll fail when you need it?
Dealt with the exact same thing last spring, water stain on my kitchen ceiling that I watched grow for three weeks before doing anything. Turned out to be a tiny crack in a supply line, $180 later and a hole in my wall I still haven't patched. I did buy a cheap sensor pack after that and stuck them under the sink and near the water heater, they've gone off twice on just steam from the shower so not sure I trust them yet. For twenty bucks though I figure it's worth it even if they're a little dumb.
