I finally got my gutters cleaned after a neighbor on my street in Parma told me he does his every April, and now I get why
He said the water was spilling over the back edge and hitting his foundation, so I checked mine and found the same thing, and watching the rain drain right out the downspout instead of down my basement wall last week made it worth the $150 I paid a guy off Ridge Road.
$150 seems like a lot for something you could probably do yourself with a ladder and a pair of gloves, honestly. I've lived in my house for going on 12 years now and I've never once cleaned the gutters, and my basement is dry as a bone. Maybe your neighbor's situation was different, but I'm not convinced every house on the street needs this done every single spring. Water spilling over the edge is one thing, but a little overflow here and there during a heavy rain doesn't automatically mean you're going to flood your basement. Seems like a lot of folks get talked into spending money on stuff they don't really need just because a neighbor says so. If it gave you peace of mind though, that's your call.
