That $3,800 “Matching Numbers” engine turned out to be a lie
I bought a 1968 Mustang coupe in Dayton last spring, and the seller swore the 289 was numbers matching. Paid $3,800 extra for that claim, then my mechanic found a 1971 block with a swapped date code. The guy blocked me after I sent him the photos. Has anyone else actually pursued legal action over a bad VIN stamp, or did you just eat the loss like I did?
