Watched a guy in Pittsburgh sweep a 1920s flue with a brush I'd never seen, changed my setup
I was doing a job in an old brick house in Pittsburgh two winters ago when the homeowner's regular sweep stopped by to say hello. He pulled out this flat wire brush with a flexible handle and showed me how he gets around the smoke shelf without scratching the damper, something I'd been fighting with for a decade. Does anyone else still use the old flat brushes or has everyone switched to those rotary rods?
