A guy at a bus stop in Denver asked me why I was reading a map upside down
I spent about 20 minutes thinking I was waiting for the 15 bus going north on Broadway when he asked if I was new here. Turns out I had been standing on the wrong side of the street for three stops, going south instead. How do you all keep track of which way buses run when the stops look the same on both sides?
This is the same problem as those intersections where you can't tell which crosswalk button actually works for the direction you're going. The city sets everything up to look the same on both sides, like some sick joke, then acts surprised when people end up on the wrong bus heading to the wrong part of town. I've started just looking at where the sun is and which way the cars are coming from before I even trust the sign. Stops should just have big arrows or something obvious, but that would make too much sense I guess.
