Why I ditched tack strips for glue down on a 2,000 sq ft office job
Everyone I work with swears tack strip is the only way for commercial work, but I took a chance on full spread glue down last month in Austin for a law firm remodel. The concrete slab had moisture issues and the customer wanted zero noise complaints, so tack strip with pad wouldve been a nightmare for their upstairs tenants. Glue down took me 3 days instead of my usual 2, but the seams are invisible and the floor feels solid as hell under office chairs. My crew complained at first, said it was slower and messier, but they changed their tune when we didnt have to staple or stretch a single corner. Has anyone else run glue down on a big open area and actually preferred it over the classic method?
