Why does nobody talk about the $90 magnetic tack strip lifter that saved my back on a 3 story job
So I bought this magnetic tack strip lifter about 8 months ago for around $90 because my knees were killing me on a big apartment complex job in Fresno, and I figured it was a dumb gimmick. Turns out it grabs the strip, holds the nails, and lets me set a whole run without bending down 40 times in a row, which on a 3 story building with 22 units adds up fast. The funny part is the guy I sub for laughed at me when I pulled it out of the truck, said real installers use their hands, and then about 2 hours in he asked to borrow it. He never gave it back either, I had to go get it off his tailgate the next morning. It did NOT save me on the stairs though, that thing is useless on a bullnose and I still ate it on a flight of steps and banged my elbow good. For $90 it earned its keep on the flat rooms alone, but I'm curious if the guys here think it's worth it or if I'm just getting soft in my old age.
