Working with a guy who leaves sawdust everywhere is testing my patience

I mean, idk maybe it's just me but keeping a clean work area should be a no-brainer. My coworker just lets sawdust build up around his spot, and it gets all over the place. Yesterday, I tripped on a pile he left near the saw, and my knee still hurts. He never sweeps up, so tools get buried and we waste time looking for them. I tried to bring it up nicely, but he said I was being too picky. Now our boss is asking why we're behind schedule, and I don't want to throw him under the bus. It's frustrating because a little cleanup would make everything smoother and safer. How do you get through to someone who doesn't see the problem?

At my local hardware store, they stress cleaning sawdust, a rule too often ignored elsewhere.

Try treating the sawdust like it's his own personal glitter bomb. He might not care about the mess, but everyone else has to deal with the sparkly, knee-bruising aftermath. Maybe then he'll see why cleaning up isn't just being picky.

Yeah, that glitter bomb idea from @the_diana is spot on. What finally got through to my roommate was me just quietly cleaning up his mess myself for a whole week. He saw the extra work and got the hint without a big fight. Sometimes showing the problem works better than just talking about it.
