Back in 2021 we were about to launch a small lending product and had no clue how to handle FINTRAC reporting. We paid a consultant in Toronto around $2,400 for a two-week review of our onboarding flow. He found that our ID verification step was missing a piece that would have failed an audit, and we fixed it before we went live. The fine alone would have been way more than what we paid him. Curious if other small teams here have used outside help for compliance or just figured it out in-house.
