Our fintech pitch deck felt perfect until a Toronto VC tore it apart in 10 minutes

Last month we presented our payment processing startup to a group in Toronto and one partner kept asking about our compliance costs, which we'd buried on slide 14. Now I'm reworking our whole story around regulatory stuff first, have any of you had to flip your pitch order after investor feedback?

That used to be how I saw it too, compliance was just a boring checklist to get through at the back end. After getting grilled the same way, I flipped our deck so the very first slide showed our regulatory licenses and audit trail, and suddenly the whole conversation shifted from doubt to trust. It feels backwards because it's not the exciting part of your product, but it's the first thing they're looking for, so you might as well lead with it.
