Hot take: I used to think open banking was just hype until a demo at the Elevate festival in Toronto showed me a real use case for my small business.

The founder of a Calgary-based startup, Payflow Direct, showed how their API could pull my transaction data from two banks to auto-categorize expenses, saving me about 5 hours of bookkeeping a week, so has anyone found other Canadian apps actually using open banking well?

I mean, that Payflow thing sounds awesome. I was in the same boat, super skeptical until my accountant basically forced me to try Plooto for pulling everything together. It connects to my bank and credit cards to handle bill payments and reconciliation, and it cut down so much manual entry. Idk, maybe it's just me but seeing the data move on its own was the game changer. I still haven't found a perfect all-in-one app, but that one specific task getting automated made me a believer.

Yeah, that "seeing the data move on its own" feeling is everywhere now.
