PSA: I called those $8 gas station rain ponchos junk until a downpour on the Art Loeb Trail changed my mind
So here's the debate: are cheap disposable ponchos smart backup or just trash that tears on the first branch, because mine lasted a full 6 hours near Brevard while my buddy's $90 shell soaked through at the seams, and I want to know if anyone else has had that happen or if I just got lucky.
Funny how a plastic bag from a gas station rack can beat a jacket that costs more than my car payment. Sounds like your buddy paid extra for the privilege of getting wet from the inside out. Six hours is way more than luck though, that thing earned its keep. Guess the trail doesn't care what the price tag says, just whether it holds water or not.
