Am I the only one who thinks a $12 foam pad beats my $200 sleeping pad for winter trips?

Took my old blue foam pad on a 3 night trip near Bend last month because my inflatable got a leak, and I slept warmer on that $12 piece of junk than I ever have on the fancy one, so now I want to know if anyone else has gone back to cheap closed cell foam for real cold.
