Bought a 'cheap' polaroid back for $60, should have just saved for the real one

Picked up a third-party instant film back for my Mamiya off eBay last month. Ad said it was tested and worked, but the roller pressure was way off so every shot came out with streaks and uneven development. Tried shimming it with tape and card stock for two weeks, total waste of a Saturday. Then the film door hinge snapped, so now I'm out $60 plus $25 for a pack of film that's all junk. Has anyone else had luck fixing these aftermarket backs or is it always a gamble?
