Serious question, did coax crimps get worse or did my eyes get worse
Had a job over in Aurora two weeks ago, 14 drops in a house built in 1961, and I swear every connector I squeezed went on crooked. I have been using the same crimper since 2009, same brand, and it has done thousands of ends without a complaint. This time I burned through a whole bag of 50 and had to toss about a dozen because the center pin wasn't seated right. I finally grabbed the cheap stripper I keep in the truck for the satellite work and found out my old one had a nick in the blade, so it was chewing the dielectric instead of cutting clean. Put a fresh blade in, and suddenly the same crimper made perfect ends for the rest of the day. The part that got me is I blamed my hands first, then the connectors, before I ever thought to look at the tool I have trusted for over a decade. Anyone else keep running a tool way past when it should have been retired just because it never let you down before?
