Just realized my snap lock punch was slowing me down after a talk with a 26 year old helper
A helper named Devon on my crew asked why I still mark every cut line with a pencil before I snap the lock. He said he just measures once, scores it with a utility knife, and bends. I brushed him off for two days until we raced on a 30 foot run of 2 inch EMT in a warehouse off Route 9. He beat me by about 6 minutes and his bends looked cleaner than mine. The scoring trick gives you a straight edge to follow, so you skip the extra mark step and your knuckle spacing stays even. I still keep the punch in my bag but I am not reaching for it every cut anymore. Curious if anyone else scores instead of punching, and how you handle bigger pipe where the knife drags.
