Grandma's pantry trick still beats my meal plan app

Visited my aunt in Pittsburgh last month and she showed me her basement shelf system, jars of beans and rice labeled by month. She spends about $40 a week feeding three people, while I blew $90 on groceries last Tuesday and still ordered pizza Friday. Has anyone else gone back to the old ways after trying the fancy budgeting tools?
