Bought a $700 laser level for one job and it either paid for itself or wasted my week
I dropped the cash on a green beam rotary laser for a commercial foundation layout last month, and it nailed every corner in half the time, but now it's sitting in the case collecting dust, so is that kind of spend worth it for a solo guy or should I have just stuck with string lines and a chalk box?

Used to think lasers were just overpriced gadgets for guys with too much money. Then I borrowed one for a deck layout and caught two mistakes in the string line setup before pouring concrete. That alone paid for the thing. Now I see it as insurance against my own tired eyes at the end of a long day. Sure it sits in the case most weeks, but the one job where it saves you from a bad pour makes it worth every dollar.
