Saw a 1800s ledger at the Mercantile Library in Cincinnati and now I want to rebind one
Stopped by the Mercantile Library in Cincinnati while visiting my sister and they had an 1840s shop ledger on display with the original leather peeling at the spine. The sewing stations were still visible where the cover had split and I stood there for like 20 minutes just looking at the thread holes. Now I want to find a beat up old ledger and rebind it as a practice project but I have no clue where to start looking for one. Should I try estate sales, or are there better spots for finding old books that are already falling apart? Also curious what thread weight you all use when the original stations are that close together, because there was barely room to breathe between them on this thing.
