A guy at the bindery in Syracuse asked why I press signatures with a brick, then handed me a nicer one
I was weighting a stack of folded signatures with a brick from my garden wall when this older binder named Ray walked by and just said "that one's too porous" and swapped it for a smooth paver he kept under his bench. Said the porous brick traps air and lets the folds spring back, and honestly the new stack sits flatter. Anybody else get surprise tool advice from a stranger who was clearly right?
