Our book club has read 47 books in 4 years and only 11 got a 5 star from anyone
I keep a running spreadsheet for our club in Portland and we just hit 47 books since we started in 2020. Out of those, only 11 got a 5 star review from at least one person. The weird part is we spend way more time arguing about the 2 and 3 star books than the ones everyone loved. Last month we did a reread of the very first pick and half the group hated it now, which started a whole thing about whether our taste changed or the book was always bad. I think the low rated books make for better talks because nobody feels bad saying what bugged them. Do other groups track their picks like this or are we just the weird spreadsheet club?
