A 30-year welder in Tulsa looked at my tube sheet and said I was chasing the wrong bead
I was running a 3/32 rod uphill on a boiler tube sheet in Tulsa and kept getting undercut on the left side, so I just cranked the heat and went faster. The old guy watching me said, "You're fighting the puddle, let the puddle follow you," which made no sense until I slowed my travel and dropped my amps by about 15. Now my beads stack way cleaner, but I'm wondering if anyone else had to unlearn going hot and fast like that?
