Dropped $95 on a custom wooden insert for my copy of Gloomhaven and it made setup worse

The bigger issue is that a lot of these inserts are built by people who play the game solo or in a fixed group, so they design around one setup flow that works for them. If your table is smaller, or you store the box on its side, or you use an app instead of the monster cards, that perfect layout falls apart and you end up digging through layers anyway. Plus pulling trays out and setting them around the table just moves the work from the box to the tabletop. Half the time I end up leaving stuff in the trays and it's the same mess with extra steps.
