Back issues changed my mind about lifting bikes

I used to just heave bikes onto the stand without thinking. After straining my back, I learned to use proper form and it's made a huge difference. Now I always take a second to position myself right.

Learned that lesson the hard way trying to move my old steel frame. I basically folded myself in half like a cheap lawn chair. Now I make a whole show of squatting down, even if I'm just picking up a water bottle. My back has turned me into the most dramatic person in the garage.

What specific things did you change about your lifting form? I messed up my back a few years ago doing something dumb, and now I'm real careful about how I pick up anything heavy. Getting that hinge motion right with your legs makes all the difference. It's wild how one wrong move can mess you up for weeks.

@mitchell.richard, I used to ignore form until my back gave out too.
