Spent 45 minutes trying to dim my bedroom lights with the fan remote

Last night I laid in bed at 11pm, tired and ready to pass out, but my normal nightlight was somehow blinding. I grabbed what I thought was the light remote and hit every button for a solid 20 minutes before realizing it was the ceiling fan remote from the living room. Another 25 minutes of hunting under the couch, in the laundry basket, and finally the fridge (don't ask) before I found the actual light remote behind my dog's bowl. Why do I have four remotes for one room and zero labels? Has anyone else mixed up their fan and light remotes this bad, or am I the only one who needs sticky notes on every gadget?
