Question about combing out wet product before a blowout

Watched a guy in Columbus run a wide tooth comb through a client's wet hair maybe 15 times before he even picked up the dryer, and his finish came out way smoother than mine ever does. Are you all combing that much before you start, or am I overthinking it?
